GDPR Training videos – consent

GDPR Videos – the first principle, lawful basis and consent

In this video, we consider the first principle of the GDPR – that data must be processed lawfully, fairly and transparently.

The word “lawful” is key here – you have to have a “lawful basis” for processing. You won’t do much searching on the web for GDPR without hitting discussion of the first of these lawful bases – consent. It’s far from the only lawful basis (there are 5 others) but it’s probably the most famous, and the most misunderstood.

We take a look in some detail at the issues around consent, and also consider the other lawful bases and when they may be more appropriate.
