The IT Service was founded in 2009, in order to provide a solution to two basic frustrations:

  1. Training companies generally provide courses, and at the end of the course, the attendees are on their own. We wanted to be able to provide help beyond that – as much or as little as needed. So, if you just want a course, that’s fine. But if you want us to come back and support you to implement what you’ve learned, we’re delighted to do that too.
  2. Too many training companies are run for the convenience of the training company. We wanted to completely focus on our clients. Training companies sell seats in a classroom because that’s a simple product to sell. They have fixed course outlines for the same reason. They dictate what the product looks like, and then they package that up and sell it wherever they can.
    We wanted our service to be completely flexible – each of our clients define what they want, and we provide exactly that. So no two courses are the same. And we don’t charge based on the number of attendees there are – that’s just backwards. You’re paying for the trainer, so that’s what we charge you for.

We’ve grown over the years, and now provide training and database consultancy services to clients large and small, across the whole of the UK. Andrew is the founder and Managing Director of The IT Service. He’s worked in training and IT for over 20 years, first in IT and network support, then in training and development. Andrew says: As much as I love technology and get a real buzz out of both development and training, what really drove me to start a new company was the conviction that there had to be a better way… A way of delivering real service to our clients. I saw no reason why just because a company hasn’t got the resources of an Apple or a Microsoft, it couldn’t outdo them for service and putting its customers at the centre of everything it does…. Amanda Dawson

Amanda joined The IT Service in 2016, after many years of experience training with other organisations. Her specialisms include Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access and VBA, but her real gift is in communication – in sharing her knowledge and expertise in a way which is informative and entertaining.
Serena McCusker
Serena McCuskerLead associate trainer
Serena is an experienced IT trainer with a background as a business analyst. She has 20+ years’ experience of managing training projects, writing training materials and delivering customised workshops (class room, 1 to 1 and virtual). A Microsoft certified and TPMA qualified trainer, Serena provides training to an advanced level for both private and public sector clients. She has a relaxed, approachable style and makes even the most advanced topics easy to follow. As well as providing hands-on classroom training for small groups, Serena is experienced at managing large roll-outs where there’s a need for providing drop-in clinics and floor walking to complement the training.
Chad Bosman

Chad is The IT Service’s customer account manager. If you ever need to organise training – whether a day’s one-to-one or a large-scale programme for your entire organisation, he’s the man to talk to. Chad says: I’ve had the pleasure of working very closely with The IT Service for a number of years now. When Andrew asked me to join his team this year, it was a “No-Brainer” for me. I’m happy to be bringing over 9 years Sales & Account Management experience with me. My goal is to ensure we are your first port of call for any training you might require, as well as delivering the best training & customer service possible.
Kim Putter
Kim PutterOperations Manager
Kim is in charge of the rest of us. It’s her job to make sure that everything that needs to happen actually happens. With a background at Network Rail, Kim’s got the experience of dealing with logistics to ensure that everything we do runs like clockwork. These days, thanks to the magic of the web, Kim works from her home in South Africa – please don’t sound too jealous if you happen to speak to her.
Harry Sweetman
Harry SweetmanAccounts
Harry is The IT Service’s one-man accounts department. He’s the one who issues and pays our bills, and if you need to talk money to us, then he’s your man. Harry says: I provide the bookkeeping support to the IT Service team and I am passionate about cloud accounting, having been involved with Xero since it started in the UK. I am a Xero Certified Advisor and licensed member of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB).
